Emmie's First Haircut

Emmie's hair was getting a little long and somewhat scragly, so I decided it was time for the first trim. After all, Walter was going for haircuts every 3-4 weeks by 15 months old. I was very nervous that I would be so sad that I gotten it cut, but alas it was time. There were tears (from Emmie only), but suckers make most things somewhat better. And, in the end we were so excited we went. She looks precious. It is hard to see in the pictures how cute it is, but it is a 1920's bob and all one length. LOVE IT!

Easter

I am almost all caught up on all our happenings. We had a great Easter. The kids got to have 6 Easter Egg Hunts. By the 5th or 6th one Emmie was really catching on and having a great time. They got to do it at both grandparents houses before Easter, then at Walter's school, the DI Neighborhood Egg Hunt, at our house after the Easter Bunny came, and then at my grandmom's house on Easter. At the big Easter Egg Hunt on DI, we were a couple of minutes late and the eggs were mostly gone. This was ok, because Walter was far more interested in finding his best friend Charlie than finding any eggs. But don't worry, he did end up with a basket full and even shared with Emmie. And, he did find Charlie. Walter and Emmie were so excited about the Easter Bunny coming to their house. He hid candy filled eggs all over our den and filled baskets. We had a great day with family at my grandmother's house. It was so much fun for all 4 of the great grandchildren to be there. Especially now that Marcus is old enough to play a little.

Walter was so excited to see the Easter Bunny and sit on his lap, Emmie was having none of it.

Walter trying to share his Easter Egg with the Easter Bunny. So Sweet!!!

Hunting for Eggs and more importantly, Charlie!

In the Woods

A few of weekends ago, we went to Columbia and stayed at Meme and Pop Pop's house, "in the woods." It is so fun to watch the different ways that the kids play at home and at each of our parent's house. There is such variety in the things they do. Every time we plan a trip to either of our parent's houses Walter arrives with a list of things that he wants to do. Going to Meme and Pop Pop's house these are usually among the things he looks forward to doing (in Walter's words):
1. Get in the woods
2. Catch a Fish (really he wants Pop Pop to catch the fish)
3. Go on the boat (really a canoe)
4. Throw rocks in the pond with Pop Pop
5. Be in the Band (Play Uncle Stephen's drums)
6. Go Swimming
7. See the Dozer (this does not mean ride, touch, or hear it crank up, just to see it)
Emmie now enjoys going along on many of these adventures. Here are some precious moments down by the pond. After Walter and Pop Pop caught a fish, Pop Pop got Emmie to touch it. She thought she wanted to, and quickly realized she's a girl.
Walter loves to ROAR like a monster

Being right before Easter, the kids had a great time going for an Easter Egg Hunt. Meme had the talking Eggs that Walter and Emmie thought were hilarious!

Spring Break

The last day of Mother's Morning Out before Spring Break and Easter, Walter had his Easter party and Egg Hunt at school. Too cute. I decided that we should take a picture of the class, so I could update Walter's picture board in his room with all of his friends from this year. This was a challenge...the kids stayed pretty spread out and all 16 were there. Emmie thinks she is in the class as well and joined the picture.
I tried to plan a fun week of activities since we didn't have school, kindermusik or the library program. So we joined everyone and their brother at the SC Aquarium on Tuesday. It was the first time that Emmie got to walk there, and they both did a great job listening. There were simply just too many people there. I now know that if you have to park further than the second floor of the parking deck right by the elevator, GO HOME!

When we first found out we were moving to Charleston, I started thinking how fun it would be to just drive up to Cola for the day to do something with the kids. Almost a year later, and we finally did it. We spent Wednesday at the Riverbanks Zoo with Nanna. I was so excited about our trip and had told Walter we would stop at Papa's office before the zoo to say hi and go potty. Putting Walter to bed Tuesday night, I asked him what we were going to do the next day expecting him to excitedly say go to the zoo. Instead he says, "we are going to Papa's office". Me: Yes, what else? "We are going to ride the elevator." Me: And go to the zoo??? "Oh yea, that too. We did do all of the above and it was so much fun, and exhausting. We stayed at the zoo far longer than expected. Walter and Emmie both loved riding the carousel.

Walter enjoyed a little ice cream before we left.

Emmie loved the rabbits. She kept saying, "Rabbi, Rabbi". After a minute she walked over to the stroller and got her "Rabbi" out to show them her rabbit lovie!
Walter enjoyed his train ride, Emmie not so much.
On Thursday our final outing for the week was for a picnic at the IOP park with Charlie and his sisters, Nick and Alex. Great park with such great friends! What a fun week!

Emmie 15 Months

Time is flying by. Emmie is no longer just a little baby, but rather a 15 month old toddler. She is rapidly growing and changing. She runs, dances, talks in phrases, and eats whatever we are eating. Emmie is such a girly girl. She loves her "Rabbi", "bebes", pocketbook, jewelry, and kitchen. The Fancy Nancy books are her absolute favorites. She loves "Doggies", but especially Tucker. She wears bows from the time she wakes up until the time she goes to bed, and many days she wears long bead necklaces all day too. Emmie loves to play at the park, she especially loves to swing. She loves Walter, he is her best friend. Emmie wants to do everything Walter does and wants to be just like him. It is unbelievably heartwarming to watch them play together, laugh together, and love on eachother. Emmie wraps her arms around our necks and gives the most amazing hugs followed by a sweet kiss. And just like Walter, she too gives us love pats.

Wearing my t-shirts after dinner for wrestle mania. Walt loves the crab t-shirt, and the black one is the smallest one I have.
My dad sent me the picture below of me at 15 months old. Genes are an amazing thing. When I showed it to Walter, he said, it's Emmie in her white shoes. It took at least 5 minutes for me to convince him it was me. I have started telling Emmie that I sure hope she likes me. As I get older, I see more and more of my mom in me, and I am pretty sure Emmie is going to be a good bit like me.
