Valentine's Weekend

Walt and Emmie love reading Goodnight Charleston. As we read it, Walt talks about how we need to go there and do that again. He has a different favorite color on Rainbow Row every time and always wants to get some praline candy. Since Friday morning was warmer and beautiful, we decided to do the Goodnight Charleston book. We packed the book, double jogger, and all of our gear and headed downtown. We started on Meeting Street, walked down King Street, then down to the battery. We got two balloons for the stroller at a precious children's boutique on King Street. Emmie slept at Battery Park, but Walt loved looking at the statues, cannon, and cannon balls. I got some cute pictures that I think every little boy that grows up in SC has around his age. We then headed up East Bay Street, passed Rainbow Row. Walt's favorite color Friday was blue. Then, we met Boyd at Moe's for a delicious cheeseburger. Walt has the book memorized and knows towards the end is the praline candy. So, we walked through the market and went to the candy shop for praline candy. Fortunately, a lady in the market handed Walt a praline to try before I bought him any...he spit it out immediately and said, "I not like praline candy mommy!" It was a fun morning, and everyone was pooped on the way home.

Valentine's Day was a dreary, inside day. But, my wonderful husband cooked up one of his gourmet meals that I love. We had blue cheese encrusted filets, spinach salad, and potatoes au gratin. For desert, we made a chocolate fondu for Walt. He LOVES chocolate, and thought this was awesome. After several bites of butter cake dipped in the chocolate, he held his belly and said, "All done, my tummy is full, full, full!" Thank you Boyd!
On Sunday we took the kids downtown to the Southeastern Wildlife Expo to see the petting zoo. Both Walt and Emmie enjoyed feeding the miniature horses, goats, and donkey. Then they both took their first horse ride on the ponies. Walt thought it was awesome, Emmie lasted for about 45 seconds. We met up with Robert, Rachel, and Addison there and had them over for dinner that night. Walt and Emmie had a great time playing with Addison, who is less than 2 weeks older than Emmie. Walt was really taken with her, and said, "she's cute!"
